As the name suggests, angel fishes looks like angels. They are called the queen of aquariums, and are a highly in-demand ornamental fish species. Angel fish is a member of the ‘Gourami’ species, and is a native of river Amazon. Gold Angelfish, Zebra Angelfish, Half Black Angelfish, Black Angel fish, Leopard Angelfish and Queen angelfish are some of the species of Angel fish.
Angel fishes are diamond shaped, with a very thin compressed body. Angel fishes have two sensory hairs near the nostrils. Angel fishes are bright eyed and has a finely drawn orange colored line surrounding the eyes and a long tail, If you notice around 7 straps or borders at the lower part of the fish, we can understand it is an Angel fish. The ’Queen of Amazon‘ has now become an integral part of aquariums all around the world . A fully grown angel fish acquires a length of 13 cm and a height of 23 cm. They love live feed compared to artificial feed. Earthworms should be sliced and given to angel fishes. Mosquito larvae, daphnia etc. are also favorite food of angel fish. It is advisable to rear angel fish in tanks where there are a lot of aquatic plants.
